The Chief Academic Officer (CAO) reports directly to the Executive Vice President and has the primary authority and accountability for the educational quality of all the company’s products and services.  The CAO provides leadership, vision, and strategic direction for the educational services to schools – this includes overseeing the Resource Management Team.  Generation Ready is committed to providing highly qualified, experienced consultants to partner with districts, schools, and teachers to improve outcomes for all students.  The Chief Academic Officer is ultimately responsible for the organization’s quality of educational service and content while collaborating with the field leadership teams to ensure that appropriate educational practices are defined and supported.

Additionally, the CAO coordinates, defines and communicates integrated plans for the growth and development in all educational areas. The CAO is part of the Executive Team, but has close day-to-day working relationships with the Marketing team, the Educational Directors and the Regional General Managers.

Responsibilities

Educational Vision and Thought Leadership

  • Assist the EVP in the development of an academic vision and strategic plan, scaling the existing models and ensuring excellence and high standards as Generation Ready expands to serve more districts
  • Determine and support the implementation of Generation Ready’s academic priorities and engagements
  • Identify K-12 educational trends and needs through communications with key district and state educational leaders and research. Translate those trends into priorities and plans for Generation Ready
  • Drive thought leadership in the educational community through the development of white papers and articles, and the delivery of presentations at conferences
  • Manage the Advisory Board to help shape the direction of our offerings and better inform our business decisions by consulting key members of the Advisory Board

Ensuring Quality of Services and Consultant Management

  • Set priorities and measurable goals and effectively manage resources to support priorities and goal achievement
  • Oversee the identification of recruitment needs and the selection of highly qualified consultants
  • Plan for and implement an orientation to ensure a successful beginning to consultants’ work in schools
  • Oversee the national strategic recruitment and allocation of consultants to projects
  • Develop and manage a Consultant Review process that fits within the structure of Generation Ready’s field organization and is designed to ensure both the quality and the consistency of the consultants’ work in schools
  • Identify and plan for the ongoing professional learning needs of the consultants and education team
  • Oversee the professional learning to ensure a consistent process, tracking, delivery, and reporting of services and a high level of consultant knowledge, so that Generation Ready remains on the cutting edge of educational theory and practice and that services are highly effective
  • Define and maintain a process for consulting engagements that includes needs assessments, goal setting, work logs, and end of project reports that are of consistent and high quality
  • Develop content, proposals, rubrics, and resources that add to Generation Ready’s intellectual property and support the work of consultant
  • Write proposal content to support high quality responses to RFP’s that speak to Generation Ready’s educational processes, approach, content in a highly effective manner
  • Build and support a high performance educational team – inspiring, integrating and aligning goals with those of Generation Ready
  • Develop and maintain clear and inclusive decision-making processes around program design and consultant allocations
  • Provide leadership and expertise in assessing, identifying, formulating, and implementing national and regional educational goals and objectives
  • Identify and develop consultants that are capable of contributing content, expertise, and thought leadership to regional and national priorities

Business and Management Initiatives

  • Being supportive of Generation Ready initiatives and policies
  • Developing relationships with key customers and partners to ensure strong, ongoing partnerships
  • Supporting business development initiatives by providing expertise in key customer meetings and communications
  • Communicating effectively and frequently with internal and external stakeholders
  • Working closely with other senior managers to ensure that sound educational practices are established and followed throughout the business
  • Working as part of a team, being collaborative, positive, and supportive of colleagues and management
  • Willing to take on additional projects and tasks as required

Professional Development

  • Participate and present at conferences, and the wider educational community to help establish Generation Ready as a premier partner and thought leader, while staying current with relevant developments and opportunities
  • Seek and maintain professional affiliations that enhance professional growth and development to keep current in the latest trends

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s and/or Doctorate degree in Education, or related field strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in K-12 Education that includes teaching and/or instructional coaching, and experience as a leader of teacher professional development for school district(s) and/or a K-12 Educational Services company
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with consultants and clients
  • Experience developing district-wide instructional initiatives
  • Ability to travel throughout NYC and across the country on a regular basis to support current and prospective services
  • A deep understanding of teaching, learning, and instructional practices
  • Enthusiasm and excitement for K-12 education and ongoing professional learning
  • Experience managing people effectively
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multiple internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to assess student achievement data and to turn it into actionable information and direction
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities and situations simultaneously
