Bill McConnell

Bill joined Generation Ready (formerly AUSSIE) in 1998 as an educational consultant supporting struggling school districts throughout New York City. Bill brings more than 35 years of educational expertise having supported schools and education systems throughout the world, including Australia, England, South Africa and Asia.

Bill has been in a variety of roles within education as a teacher, administrator, coach, and consultant across all grades. He has supported schools, districts, and states at all levels in education.

Before moving to the United States Bill was the General Manager of Reading Matters, a national education non-profit organization in South Africa that provides teacher training, materials and schools to poor communities in the region. Equity has always been his passion – “it is vital to ensure all students have equal opportunities to help them succeed in life.” His mission is to provide every child with an outstanding education which he believes is the most critical 21st century challenge; this is why he affirms partnering with great schools has the potential to transform lives.

Bill’s background affords him a uniquely qualified perspective on modern education. He works closely with Maria Quail in providing a consistent nationwide strategy for Generation Ready’s professional development initiatives. The focus of such initiatives is ensuring consultancy is research-based and transformative, and supports educational equity, leadership growth, teacher effectiveness, and student achievement in schools that Generation Ready partners with.

Maria Quail

Maria Quail began her teaching career in Brooklyn as an elementary school teacher and later transferred to the Bronx. She went on to become a certified Reading Recovery teacher working with at risk students. In time she became an Assistant Principal and eventually the Principal of Public School 8 in the Bronx. Later she served as a mentor to new principals in her district under a Project Lead Grant in District 10 in the Bronx.

For the following 8 years, Maria served as a Network Leader in the Empowerment Organization of the Department of Education in the City of New York, initially leading a team of 4 who supported 26 NYC schools. Under her leadership the network quickly grew in school numbers and became one of the first in the city of New York to pilot a Children First Network (CFN) and Phase One of the Special Education Initiative. Selecting a team of 14 experts in operations and instruction, CFN 109 was formed which supported 36 schools in the Bronx and Brooklyn instructionally and operationally.

She has also served as an adjunct instructor for graduate students at Manhattan College. Maria joined Generation Ready in 2016 and is currently Generation Ready’s Chief Executive Officer.

Brooke Grabiner

Brooke graduated from Towson University with a degree in Communication Studies, focusing on marketing, public relations, and advertising. Brooke is able to bring her years of marketing experience to the organization to help maintain client relationships and attract new customers. Her knowledge and work experience help her create an environment in which clients and consultants feel comfortable to contact her with their concerns, streamlining the processes used by clients and internal staff to create a nurturing atmosphere.

Brooke began her journey at Generation Ready 5 years ago as the Education Coordinator. During that time, she provided support and resources necessary for our Education Consultants to deliver their services in schools throughout New York City. Brooke quickly advanced to the position of Business Operations Manager, which offered her the opportunity to provide deeper assistance to clients. In her present position, Brooke serves as Director of Client Services where she manages all clients and consultants.

Coming from a family of educators, who strived to ensure success for all students, Brooke was motivated to follow in their footsteps. Working with Generation Ready, a premier Professional Development company gives her the opportunity to support teachers and leaders to develop schools of excellence.

Jack Lavender

Jack has been helping companies apply technology to improve their businesses for almost 40 years. He's worked in large, multi-national companies, Big Four technology consulting, and multiple start-ups, including two of his own. His goal is always to make technology as transparent as possible for the end user. The first question he always asks about any technology is, "Will this make some aspect of the work easier, or faster, or better?" If it won't, then it probably doesn't need to be implemented.

James Clark

James works as a project support officer for Generation Ready. As an experienced administrative professional, he works to support consultants in their work in schools. Prior to his move to the United States of America, he had a long career in the Australian Public Service, working in a variety of roles.

James is committed to education, and is currently undertaking study remotely through the University of Southern Queensland, Australia.

Marian Eugene

Marian Eugene is the Human Resources Manager. After serving thirty-three years she retired from the New York City Department of Education. Her experience encompasses various areas of HR including recruitment of pedagogical staff and serving the Bronx community for the last twenty-seven years as an HR Director.

Megan Leonard

Megan has worked within the educational field in a variety of capacities. Her experience in the classroom, work within a Superintendent’s Office, and time as a consultant has allowed her to develop a wide range of knowledge centered around student growth and development. In recent years, a shift in focus to curriculum development has brought a new perspective on ways to challenge and engage both students and teachers.

Megan worked for six years as a fourth-grade teacher developing learning strategies specifically for students with disabilities and English Language Learners. Applying the principles of her classroom, Megan believes in the benefits of being a life-long learner and enjoys expanding her knowledge of developments within the field of education. With this mindset, she has achieved a BSeD in Elementary and Special Education from St. John’s University and a MSeD from Boston College in Curriculum and Instruction.

Nadav Ben-Chanoch

Prior to joining Generation Ready, Nadav worked as a corporate associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where his practice focused on mergers & acquisitions. Nadav also co-founded Rowgatta, a high-intensity, low-impact fitness brand based in NYC. Nadav holds a degree in Chemical Engineering, cum laude, from the University of Florida and a JD, magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law.

Amy Marelli

Amy Marelli is a dedicated math consultant with 12 years of teaching experience in Elementary Education, ranging from Kindergarten to 6th grade. She holds a master's degree in Curriculum Development and Technology, which has enhanced her expertise in creating effective educational materials.

Her leadership skills and drive to build a strong rapport have been instrumental in guiding educators and shaping their instructional practices. She enjoys collaborating with teachers to strengthen their instructional strategies and implement student-centered learning approaches. She strives to support educators with hands-on resources for students that promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Andrea DeVico

Andrea DeVico is a math and special education consultant. Her passion for equitable education is evident in her work to recreate equitable math pathways keeping the door to the STEM field open for all students. She is excited to continue working with schools highlighting their strengths and supporting teachers in an effort to meet the goals of the school community.

Angie Primeaux

Angie Primeaux offers over two decades years of experience in the field of education and has served diverse populations as a teacher, coach, professional developer, adjunct college instructor, and consultant. Through various projects across the nation, Angie has developed a focus on creating and leading impactful, goal-driven professional development in all content areas as well as pedagogical practices such as classroom management, and social emotional learning.

As a virtual or in-person consultant, Angie has the ability to engage and empower clients towards measurable growth and productivity.

Anna Munoz

Anna Muñoz is an Education Consultant in the areas of math, literacy, equity, and culturally responsive teaching practices. She brings with her 15 years of experience in education as well as diverse personal and professional experiences giving her both a unique view of education and a broad range in perspective. Anna has a Master of Science in Education degree with a specialization in literacy from The Sage Colleges in Troy, New York. During her graduate studies, her academic research explored the impact of culturally relevant text on student performance in reading and attitudes toward reading. As a classroom teacher she had the privilege of serving students in urban communities of New York, New Jersey, Georgia, and Virginia.

Anthony Volforte

Anthony is a K-8 Literacy, Literacy Across the Content, and Mathematics staff developer and education consultant. He has a proven track record of transformational changes that result in increased student engagement, rigorous levels of learning and student achievement working with schools in New York City, New York State, New Jersey and Baltimore City Public Schools. Anthony comes to us with 20 plus years of experience as a teacher, administrator and staff developer, that encompass professional learning cohorts in the teaching and learning of mathematics, curriculum development and utilizing the best practices within literacy and mathematics instruction. A life-long learner and a committed passionate educator who continues to dedicate his time in supporting all teachers and administrators and most importantly students and families in their pursuit for the best education.

Barbara Boriotti

Barbara M. Boriotti worked as a teacher, a reading specialist, assistant principal and principal in New York City. Her experience included working with Shelley Harwayne, Lucy Calkins, Joanne Hindley, Diane Snowball, and New York University’s Reading Recovery Network. She was trained by Brian Cambourne and Jan Turbil as a facilitator for Frameworks for Literacy. Barbara is presently an adjunct professor at Hunter College teaching literacy as well as a consultant for Generation Ready.

Barbara Kestenbaum

Barbara Kestenbaum has devoted over 15 years helping school districts and individual schools assess their instructional practices to assist in the planning of initiatives to improve student outcomes. During that time, Barbara has been providing professional development, and has developed an expertise in effective instructional strategies, literacy, and behavior management.

She prides herself in being as comfortable working directly with students or coaching teachers on-site, as she is addressing groups on best practices in education.

Bridget Cassidy

Bridget Cassidy has 35 years of experience serving students pre-kindergarten through middle school as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, literacy coach, and dyslexic interventionist. First, a classroom teacher, Bridget began working as a reading specialist building abilities in reading in the content areas. Literacy coaching helped increase knowledge and understanding of dyslexia’s varying forms, enhancing teachers’ instruction and improving students' achievement. Bridget has certification in Orton-Gillingham's methodologies: Comprehensive and Morphology plus as well as a Practicum Supervisor.

Through her work, Bridget has shown the ability to relate to teachers, model engaging instruction, and provide educators with tools to organize and build a conducive learning environment.

Boma Jack

Boma is a Nigerian-American and has spent over thirty years working with both young scholars and adult educators. Boma started teaching with the Department of Education in 1985 as a teacher of mathematics, computer science, and business practice. He was privileged to interact with young and adolescent learners, who needed a second chance as a result of family instability, environmental ills, and incarceration. This experience furled his desire to continue in this endeavor, with a belief that every child is deserving of a healthy upbringing, education, and a productive life.

Over the years, in his capacity as Assistant Principal of Mathematics, Principal and Director of programs, he gained a wealth of experience in working with other colleagues to develop mathematics programs, stem education, career and technical education at the secondary level, as well as, collaborating with community-based organizations and colleges for skill acquisition and college readiness. BOMA is presently an Education Consultant with Generation Ready Inc., where he provides coaching to teachers of mathematics, and collaborate with school communities to achieve positive student outcomes.

Bridget Bye

Bret Rangiira

Dr. Brett Rangiira has been an educator for over thirty years, and he has worked in a variety of Australian school and district roles during this time. Since 2003 he has also worked as a math and science consultant for New York Public Schools. His areas of expertise include middle and high school math and science education and supporting teachers to develop their practice.

His doctoral studies investigated the field of teacher professional identity and agency and his thesis identified core elements which enhance teacher effectiveness in the classroom.

Carolyn McGown

With over 20 years’ experience as a classroom teacher, graduate professor, and teaching coach, Carolyn McGown knows what is necessary in helping teachers increase student engagement and achievement. Her work includes NYC’s most under-resourced schools, independent schools, and charter schools.

Regardless of the setting, Carolyn starts with building connections, meeting individuals where they are, and making every experience rich and meaningful.

Celines Pinto

Celines Pinto is an experienced educator with over ten years of elementary education experience. She worked as the Math Coordinator for a high-performing network of schools in New York City. She is skilled in curriculum development and coaching teachers. Celines has a Bachelor’s degree from Williams College, her Masters in Special Education from CUNY Brooklyn College, and her extension from CUNY Hunter College.

Throughout her career, Celines’ purpose has been to instill within both students and teachers a keen understanding of and genuine appreciation for mathematics.

Cheryl Lee

Cheryl Lee has over 30 years of classroom teaching experience, spanning Pre-K through seventh grade. She has coached and mentored teachers, developed and presented workshops for administrators, teachers and families, and created and taught additional academic programs in order to increase student/family engagement and achievement.

Cheryl’s vision is that every child achieves his/her personal best, feels safe, and becomes a lifelong learner.

Christine Milton

Christine Milton brings 30 years of educational experience serving elementary and middle schools as a teacher, literacy coach, and administrator. She has worked at the school and district levels, supporting a wide range of educators and administrators.

Christine brings with her a depth of expertise in instructional leadership, consulting in the literacy area, coaching, and facilitating professional development with collaborative team planning.

Literacy Consulting - Supported multiple campuses across the boroughs, Westchester and Long Island in job-embedded professional learning that immediately impacted curriculum planning, teacher pedagogy and Common Core Standards alignment

Leadership Consulting – Coached new administrators with a focus on observing teaching practice, providing actionable feedback, and gathering professional support for staff.

Christy Kim

Christy has over 10 years of experience working with children from the inner-city, teaching all subjects in inclusion and regular education classes, instructional coaching in Math in an urban setting, and teaching English in various developing countries. She is passionate about supporting teachers with strengthening their practice so that students can meet and exceed their grade level standards.

Christy’s long-term vision is to provide quality education for children and adults in underprivileged areas, and she is eager to learn from people of all cultures and walks of life.

Desiree Karroll

Desiree Karroll is a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy. As an elementary teacher for over 30 years, she brings a wealth of knowledge to the field. She was selected to revamp the Next Generation Learning Standards and enjoyed working as an Adjunct Professor at Adelphi University. As a Mentor/Mentee Facilitator, she guided new teachers.

Her quest for learning is evident through obtaining several certifications: Elementary Education, Early Childhood, Administration and Literacy.

Eileen Miller

Eileen has over forty years of experience as a special educator and HS Principal. She focused on creating a collaborative, professional learning community, and developing consistent instructional strategies and accessible, differentiated instruction. Recently, as an adjunct professor at Hunter College, and Supervisor of teachers in the Absent Teacher Reserve, Eileen has focused on developing teacher skill and capacity through instructional coaching.

She earned her BS in Special and Elementary Ed, MA in Special Education and MS in Educational Administration and Supervision.

Elisa Capers

Elisa Capers has been an educator in the elementary and middle school sectors for 16 years. Throughout her tenure she has taught grades K-5, early intervention, and has held additional positions such as grade team lead and mentor teacher. Additional school-based roles include her time as an instructional coach both in-person and virtually.

Currently, Elisa works as an Education Consultant which is geared towards working with teachers and administrators in various school settings.

Erik Lepis

Erik taught in suburban New York where his reading and writing workshop classroom served as a visitation site for teachers across the district and across Long Island as a model for balanced literacy instruction.

He holds advanced degrees in both Early Childhood Education and Educational Leadership. Through his national and international consulting work, he works closely with building and district leaders in helping administrators lead school-wide change and raising student achievement through the teaching of reading and writing and culturally responsive teaching.

Grace Chiu

Grace is a K-8 Literacy, Leadership, and Literacy Across the Content staff developer and education consultant. She has a proven track record of transformational changes that result in increased student engagement with schools in New York City, Baltimore City Public Schools, Uinta County School District, and Teton County School District. Celebrating her 10th year with Generation Ready, Dr. Chiu has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, literacy coach and staff developer. She has also supported international schools in the United Kingdom and Denmark. Prior to joining Generation Ready, Grace served as Project Director at the University of Washington’s Center for Educational Leadership.

Harriette Grosvenor

Harriette E. Grosvenor is a graduate of Vassar College and Manhattan College. Ms. Grosvenor has worked in both the private and public, school systems since 1991 as a teacher, assistant Principal and Principal. As a consultant she works to guide and build the capacity of school districts, leadership teams, faculty, and staff members through cultural proficiency. Ms. Grosvenor’s expertise includes instructional and transformational leadership with an emphasis on helping institutions establish equitable practices, policies and procedures; developing standards-based, inter-disciplinary ELA and Social Studies curricula and supporting the development of culturally responsive teaching and effective learning strategies that benefit all students.

Helen Kokkinidis

Helen has over 30 years’ experience in education, from elementary to university level, and a dedication to supporting English language learners. This dedication has taken her to various countries around the world. Helen has been teacher, Literacy Coordinator, Curriculum coordinator, instructional coach and manager of an English language school. Most recently she has worked as a Subject Matter Expert in supporting Instructional Designers create an online English language platform.

Helen enjoys collaborating with educators to strengthen instruction and support individual needs

Ines Ellis-Guardiola

Inés Ellis-Guardiola has 17 years of experience working with students and teachers from Pre-K through High School as a tutor, teacher, and instructional coach. She has her Master’s in Elementary Education
with a bilingual extension from Hunter College and a MEd in School Leadership from Bank Street College of Education. Inés has spoken at the 2018 NCTM national conference about productive struggle. She has been trained on culturally responsive teaching with the Advanced Academic and Personal Behaviors Institute, and been part of a Critically Conscious Educators Rising cohorts at NYU.

Inés’s work as a consultant spans many passions; strengthening mathematics teaching through pedagogy and content
work, centering equity for all students through culturally responsive teaching and social justice lenses, building and maintaining highly effective bilingual programs, and integrating leadership structures that support teachers and students to succeed.

Iveliz Colon

Iveliz (evalease) has served as teacher, coach, mentor, district liaison, and administrator. Her career in education spans 20 years in self-contained, co-taught, and general education classrooms. She creates spaces and systems where all stakeholders can work together to support our students. In those positions, she has supported teachers, students, and parents across all content areas, in grades K-12. Using data and best practices, she empowers students to take ownership and to co-drive their learning.

She also speaks nationally on equity, mindset, and team building.

James Rice

Jamie comes to Generation Ready with 14 years of k-12 education experience, with a background in instructional leadership, systems-level curriculum and framework implementations, and creating sustainable Professional Learning Communities.   Jamie’s greatest strength is his ability to put students at the center of the decision-making process while ensuring equitable representation from all community stakeholders. 

When not in schools, you may find him reading in a city park, or doing long open-water swims in the Atlantic.  He holds a B.A. in History from NJCU, and an M.A. in Organizational Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.

Jamilla Fort

Jamilla is a career educator having spent nearly ten years teaching in the mathematics classroom. In the latter part of her career, she has worked as a math instructional leader, coach, and consultant.

Additionally, she has been appointed to multiple inner-city district teams to design and lead projects to impact student achievement, improve teacher effectiveness, and support school leadership development.

Jamilla brings, not only her expertise in the mathematics content area and instructional pedagogy, but a passion and commitment to high-quality coaching and support.

Jane Murphy

Jane has more than 30 years of experience in NYC Schools. After ten years as a K-2 self-contained special education teacher, the search for educational equity led her to the inclusion movement where she worked across the elementary grades as a classroom teacher and intervention specialist. She was National Board certified as an Early Childhood Generalist and a Shaklee Special Education National Teacher of the Year.

Jane has served as an instructional coach for literacy and math in grades K-6 and was the founding principal of a PK – 2 magnet school and a PK-5 elementary school.

Jane Yuille

Jane is committed to educating teachers, students, colleagues, families, and the community through establishing strong connections.  Jane has brought with her a depth of expertise in leadership, teaching and consulting in elementary leadership, curriculum development, literacy strategies and practices and has vast experience in coaching and leading professional development, especially in virtual instruction. As an educator and Administrator in Australia and New Zealand with 40+ years experience, this molded her beliefs in equity, celebrating diversity, and developing partnerships through education.

John Sasko

John has over 20 years of experience as a teacher, math coach and mathematics instructional leader. As a K-8 mathematics consultant, John focuses on building teacher capacity in mathematics content and pedagogy, The goal is to provide students with opportunities to see themselves as mathematical thinkers prepared for the challenges ahead.

John holds degrees from Brown University, NYU (M.P.A.), Temple University Law (J.D.), Lehman College (M.S. Ed.) and the College of St. Rose (M.S.Ed. Admin.)

Julie Mullan

Julie Mullan is an educator with many levels of experience. Most recently, Ms. Mullan has worked as a principal in Glen Cove, NY in an intermediate building. During her time there, she focused on creating coherent instruction and strengthening school culture. Prior to Glen Cove, Ms. Mullan worked for the New York City Department of Education where Ms. Mullan taught many years in the early childhood classroom. Feeling the need to strengthen her understanding of reading and writing, Ms Mullan pursued a Masters of Education with a focus on Literacy Instruction from Hofstra University. Her work with teacher teams as a grade team leader led to a residency with New Leaders. As part of New Leaders she focused on using student and teacher data to create action plans to increase student outcomes.

Julie Termini

Julie Termini brings 20 years of experience with elementary and middle schools in a variety of capacities - from classroom teaching and mentoring to coaching, developing mentors, training teacher leaders and consulting. She has worked to develop staff and professional development programs at both the school and district levels. Julie’s passion for literacy, effective technology integration and a hands-on, engaging approach to learning has unlocked her interest in blended learning and STEAM education.

It is a combination of these skills that has enabled Julie to support teachers using a variety of instructional approaches to help all students achieve.

Kami Lewis Levin

Kami Lewis Levin began her career as a high school history teacher. Later, she served as an instructional coach, followed by Director of Curriculum and Instruction and then, Chief Learning Officer. Kami has a doctorate in Adult Learning and Leadership from Teachers College.

Literacy Consulting - Supports teachers in professional growth and data-informed decision-making that targets instruction and pedagogy.

Leadership Consulting – Supports administrators and instructional leadership teams on distributed leadership, observation/feedback cycles, and leadership development.

Katie Mejias

Katie has 15 years of experience working as a teacher and school leader. She holds two Master’s degrees in childhood and inclusive education and is a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Teacher. Katie has extensive experience coaching and training school staff in inclusive classroom practice, effective intervention delivery and supporting the successful leadership of school improvement projects.

Katie is passionate about the power of education to close opportunity gaps for students and works towards schools being truly inclusive representations of their communities.

Kelly Fitzpatrick

Kelly brings 16 years of experience working as a general education and special education teacher, interventionist, and school administrator. She spent the last five years as principal of a small, progressively minded Department of Education elementary school in the Bronx. Kelly believes in a systems approach to change. She strives to embed social and emotional supports and a commitment to equity into the fabric of the work she does with communities. Kelly holds master’s degrees in special education from Mercy College and school leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.

She is formally trained in Reading Recovery from the NYU Steinhardt School of Education.

Ken Petriccione

Ken draws from a wealth of 27 years experience as a culturally responsive educator in both Mt. Vernon, New York, and the New York City school system. He has been a classroom teacher, a Math staff developer/instructional coach, a Summer School coordinator, an assistant principal, and for the last 12 years, a principal of a K-8 school. Ken has been thoroughly trained in culturally responsive teaching, and social- emotional learning, and will be consulting in all aspects of instructional leadership, with an emphasis on supporting quality math instruction.

Kerry Cunningham

Kerry is an educator with over 34 years of experience in teaching and leadership in the New York City Department of Education. She has taught in both elementary and middle schools and had devoted the last 23 years of her career to the improvement of elementary mathematics teaching and learning. In the world of mathematics education, she worked as mathematics coach, a Regional Instructional Specialist in Region 9, as a Network Support Specialist working in four boroughs, and as the Citywide Lead for Elementary Mathematics for the DOE. She has deep knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy and mathematics professional development. She has also worked as an adjunct professor of mathematics methods for preservice teachers at NYU.

Throughout her career, Kerry’s purpose has been to instill within both students and teachers a keen understanding of and genuine appreciation for mathematics.

Kevin Boston-Hill

Kevin has been a culturally responsive educator in New York City and Long Island for 25 years, serving as teacher, dean, assistant principal, principal, instructional coach, and mentor. He specializes in Leadership, Science, Social Studies, and Math

As a Google Certified Trainer and Distance/Blended Learning Expert, Kevin has conducted workshops on a variety of topics, including equity, and social-emotional learning. Kevin has also led SLTs and PLCs and has assisted schools in writing their CEPs and establishing Inquiry Teams.

Laelena Brooks

Laelena has been working in STEM education for over 15 years. Between California and New York, Laelena has been a middle and high school math teacher, an assistant principal, and a district level STEM leader. With a strong love for math and science, the desire to ensure students get the highest quality instruction possible, and a commitment to building strong adult relationships,

Laelena is excited to coach teachers and leaders through planning and implementation of student-centered, inquiry based lessons.

Latoya Massey

Latoya is a visionary leader with 20 years developing, supporting, and creating strategies to improve systems within education in an effort to enhance student performance; particularly those marginalized. Influential thought leader for educational progress, social reform, and equity.

She received an undergraduate degree from Wesleyan University, Master of Science and Teaching from Pace University, and is completing her doctoral candidacy at Concordia University.

Laura Fennon

Laura is an experienced and committed educational leader with an extensive background in literacy instruction. Laura has worked in schools as a teacher, instructional coach and as the Director of ELA for a high performing network of schools in New York City.

She is passionate about working collaboratively with schools in an effort to promote student achievement.

Laura Caito

My experience as a Math Consultant has helped me to develop the necessary skills required to not only identify and evaluate new curriculum and policies, but to be able to implement them in a real-world setting. I feel that the combination of my professional experience and graduate training will allow me to be a valuable bridge between leadership, staff, and families. As a member of your team I will bring a life-long love of learning and a desire for educational excellence. I have never been afraid to ask questions that have helped me succeed and grow as a learner, an educator and a leader. Lauren Ravit-Franceskin

Lauren was an upper elementary educator for 20 years. She spent the last decade of her teaching career as a teacher leader in New York City, and training middle and high school teachers entering the field. Lauren is passionate about strong instruction that meets the individual needs of every student. She excels at figuring out the real-world applications that will drive the learning.

Currently, Lauren is an Education Consultant supporting various schools by bringing together stake holders to meet their education goals.

Luisa Garcia-Soler

Luisa has served the community throughout her thirty-seven years as a bilingual educational leader. She earned the title of Turnaround Specialist at the Darden Graduate School of Business/ Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia and has been a Principal and ESL Director in both the School District of Philadelphia and Deer Park School District. Luisa has an MS degree in Applied Linguistics, with a Specialization in Native Language Literacy from Queens College and is completing her Ph.D. in Education with a Specialization in ESL from Northcentral University.

Margaret Woodman-Russell

Margaret’s passion is collaborating with educators to make effective curriculum and instruction a daily reality for all students. She is experienced in literacy and mathematics as a teacher coach, professional learning facilitator, and curriculum developer. Her decade as a classroom teacher included seven years in a dual language program in a New York City public school, serving many English Language Learners and Students with Disabilities. She brings a lens of anti-racism to all aspects of her work.

Margaret holds a M.A in Bilingual/Bicultural Education from Teachers College and a B.A in Government and Spanish from Smith College.

Mary Murphy

Mary has had substantial experience as a teacher, administrator, and consultant. As a consultant Mary has been responsible for the provision of administrator and teacher professional development and whole staff professional dialogue around the pedagogical changes needed to embrace current philosophies and practices for teaching and learning with an emphasis on improving student outcomes. Mary’s role continues to include continuing supporting administrators, mentoring coaches and new teachers.

Mary Danke

Mary Danke is an accomplished consulting professional drawing experience from over 30 years in the NYC Department of Education. Mary Danke has a combined 15 years of administrative experience at the district level and as a building based administrator. She was instrumental with the implementation various programs that supported literacy and the differentiation of programs to meet the specific needs of identified students with disabilities and general education students that were not meeting standards. Her efforts improved teaching strategies and the practices of teachers supporting students with disabilities and improved the overall literacy scores of schools she was associated with.

Mary Danke taught and supported students in grades K-12 and worked to provide support to students transitioning to High School and College.

Mary Danke also implemented and supported behavioral initiatives that improved classroom management, as well as, school-wide positive behavioral plans.

Michael Coad

Michael is an experienced educator, school leader and instructional coach with over 16 years experience. He is passionate about further strengthening educators’ capabilities in the access to, teaching, learning and assessment of the curriculum, to ensure all students succeed.

As an experienced Instructional Coach, Michael has worked with teachers, school leaders, superintendents and state leaders across diverse Elementary, Middle and High School settings in a number of countries.

Michael Adler

After graduating college with a degree in Jazz Drumming, Michael joined the New York City Teaching Fellows. After 11 years in the classroom, he became an assistant principal. Half way through his third year as an assistant principal, Michael was approached by his leaders, and asked to become the principal of a new middle school that was under construction. After serving as principal for five years, he was ready for a new challenge and eager to support more schools in a variety of contexts.

Michael is currently working as a Generation Ready consultant with NYCDOE’s Literacy Collaborative.

Michele Hogan

Michele Hogan has been an educator whose career has spanned 29 years. She began her career as a classroom teacher, Reading Specialist, and School Mentor. As an Assistant Principal, she found her passion for working with teachers and supporting their pedagogical growth. By working hand in hand with teachers and facilitating workshops on aligning student tasks to the standards, using multiple entry points, differentiating instruction, and analyzing the data, our learning community began to thrive and student achievement began to grow.

Michele believes in a strong collaborative community that works together to support student growth and achievement.

Michelle Bergman

Michelle Bergman is a lifelong resident of Brooklyn, N.Y. She is a dynamic, enthusiastic educator, who has served in the classroom, as a principal, professional developer, literacy coach and teacher trainer. Her educational training includes a first Masters in reading instruction, and a second Masters in administration and supervision. A participant in many seminars, conferences and training institutes, Michelle feels it is a professional’s responsibility to “sharpen the saw,” and continue to grow. As a lifelong learner, Michelle enjoys mastering new skills, and following current trends and ideas in the education field.

She loves museums, reading, traveling (not too much of late), and music and stands “ready” to serve the next “generation” of learners!

Molly Wang

Molly Wang was a classroom as well as a Reading/ELL teacher. From there, she spent the next twenty years in school administration as both a Principal and Assistant Principal. She also organized a “Pipeline for aspiring administrators” program in her school whereby teachers who aspire to becoming administrators were mentored by her.

An Adjunct Professor at Teachers College Columbia University, she also mentors and coaches newly assigned administrators.

Morgan Hildesley

Morgan brings 25 years of experience serving students as a teacher, administrator, and Instructional Coach. She brings a genuine passion for supporting learners and educators on their attaining their academic goals. With her work on the Boston Plan for Excellence, an Annenberg Foundation project she gained her first coaching experience. She continued her coaching in the Multiple Pathways Institute an innovative, professional learning. Program designed to build the instructional expertise of teachers and the leadership capacity of principals, with the goal of improving student’s academic achievement and postsecondary outcomes in New York City Public Schools. She builds from the strong foundation of her Special Education and Literacy background in her work strengthening teachers’ instructional approaches.

Through her work Morgan has shown the ability to support teachers, and school leaders’ strengthening their instructional approaches applied to meeting students’ needs.

Nalini Singh

Dr. Nalini Singh, 1st generation college graduate, retired Principal from the NYC Department of Education, Educational Consultant as coach in Collaborative Literacy and leadership training, and many other leadership roles under her vitae. With over 30 years of experience in the school system, Dr. Singh’s has an extensive knowledge in leadership, pedagogy, diversity, equity, SEL and many other initiatives. Dr. Singh graduated from St. John’s University with a degree in Doctor of Education, Administrative and Instructional Leadership, focus on Emotional Intelligence.

Dr. Singh is an advocate for students, and believes that education is our great equalizer in this world.

Pamela Abramson

Pamela Abramson has worked as an educator for 20+ years as a public school teacher, ELA curriculum developer, instructional coach, and literacy specialist. She has developed district-level PD on effective literacy practices across content areas for high school students with learning disabilities. Pamela has extensive experience aligning lessons to Common Core standards and culturally responsive frameworks, and has years of experience supporting new consultants, guiding and advising school administrators, and creating workshop cycles around data analysis and adoption of new literacy curricula.

Her leadership in applying Improvement Science to literacy instruction has been recognized at the national level.

Pam Warrick

Pam Warrick brings decades of educational experience serving students from Pre- kindergarten through college as a teacher, coach, professional developer, college professor, and consultant. After receiving the National Presidential Award in Secondary Mathematics and the State Presidential Award in Elementary Mathematics as a classroom teacher, the move was made to training and developing teachers in the field. As a consultant, her ability to model engaging instruction, while providing fellow educators the needed tools to plan, organize, and maintain a conducive learning environment, has been effective in raising student achievement in the area of math in many schools. She also develops STEM curricula and provides development of programs.

Trisha Wilcox

Trisha has worked as an educator for over 30 years as a teacher of English, Social Studies and Performing Arts. She has been part of public-school leadership teams as a Department Head, Assistant Principal and Acting Principal. An experienced virtual and instructional coach, Trisha has worked as a successful team builder, curriculum developer and literacy consultant in High School, Middle School and Upper Elementary School Communities in Australia and the USA. One of her career highlights has been working as an English Language Arts Advisor for Australia’s National Curriculum. She is a passionate advocate for high quality, culturally inclusive, research based instructional practices that engage all learners in becoming successful and powerful global citizens.

Portia Jones

As the Director of Special Services and Principal Fellow at Achievement First, Portia has 11 years of teaching experience in general and special education as well as 11 years experience coaching and consulting teachers and administrators in instructional, socio-emotional learning, mindsets around diversity, equity and inclusion, and leadership best-practices. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Barnard College and an M.S.Ed from Bank Street College of Education. She has developed a passion for education through her personal experiences and work with schools and organizations across the globe including Chicago, Boston, London and Kenya as well as community organizing work supporting social justice efforts in her hometown, New York City.

Rachelle Caiazzo

Rachelle is a passionate educational leader with extensive knowledge and experience in early literacy. She has a wealth of experience creating and implementing literacy curriculum and practices that promote success across a diverse student population. Rachelle brings creative ideas to promote a culture of professional learning, and believes that fostering a community of teachers of reading is key to the successes seen in their classrooms. She believes that building foundations for strong readers and reading instruction is key for our future, especially during such a critical time in our world.

She holds an M.A in Elementary Inclusive Education from Teachers College and a B.A in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of British Columbia.

Ryan Spencer

Ryan is an experienced educator, school leader and instructional coach with over 20 years experience. He is passionate about assisting educators to evolve their teaching to meet the individual needs of their students, by building their capacity to investigate their instruction and build practice.

As an experienced Instructional Coach, Ryan has worked with teachers and school leaders in schools and virtually across Elementary, Middle and High Schools, as well as in the tertiary sector both in the United States and Australia.

Sarah Ringey

Sarah Ringey is a dynamic and experienced public and private educator specializing in literacy and mathematics who began her teaching career in the Bronx as an elementary teacher. She became the school’s Mathematics coach, where she increased mathematics proficiency throughout the school by designing and implementing a math curriculum for grades PK-5.

Sarah is a deeply dedicated educational leader who takes pride in nurturing the personal and academic growth of educators and children alike.

Seth Lewis Levin

Seth Lewis Levin is an Instructional Leadership Coach based in Miami, FL. Seth began his career in education as a teacher in Manhattan's District 2 and moved into instructional coaching and school leadership. Most recently he has been working to develop school leaders across the country for Bezos Academy and New Leaders in underserved communities. He helped found Tobin Montessori PK-8 in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the New Visions Charter High School for the Humanities in the Bronx, NY.

Shira Katz

Shira is a creative and passionate educator with twenty-five years of experience teaching and learning in New York city and beyond. She has been immersed in the work of moving educators forward in their craft through active classroom coaching and modeling, strategizing with school leaders, collaboratively planning and facilitating professional learning experiences and supporting teacher leaders and teams. Through utilizing deep listening, skilled facilitation and a mastery of adult learning principles, she has galvanized hundreds of educators around a shared vision for transformative practice. She also served in a senior role at an educational non-profit, working closely with district leaders and staff to coordinate and program manage a new teacher induction program in the Bronx.

Inspired by the possibilities of the classroom and the resilience of young people, Shira brings her passion for team building and collaboration to all her work, leaving partners with both deeper theoretical understanding and practical applications of the topic at hand.

Stephanie Fern

Stephanie Fern has almost 20 years of experience serving students from kindergarten to middle school as a teacher, reading specialist, and consultant. After a career working inside the classroom, Stephanie began working as an educational consultant focused on strengthening teachers’ instructional approaches and improving students’ academic achievement. Through her work, Stephanie has shown the ability to relate to teachers, model engaging instruction, and provide educators with the tools to organize and build a conducive learning environment.

Stephenie Tidwell

Stephenie Tidwell is an educator with many years of experience. Ms. Tidwell has served as a supervisor of instruction in the areas of Math, Science, and Business Education in several New Jersey School Districts. She has a depth of expertise in math education, teaching, curriculum development, data analysis, coaching, and leading professional development.

As an educator focused on developing reflective practitioners, Ms Tidwell is pursuing a Ph.D. in Teacher Education and Teacher Development from Montclair State University focusing on math teacher pedagogy using real-world problems for student engagement and to increase student outcomes.

Susan Midlarsky

Susan brings a great deal of experience in elementary and middle school mathematics coaching, drawing from her teaching, curriculum writing, and research experience. Having consulted in schools around the country and overseas, she brings a broad perspective about how education is evolving. Her previous scientific and technical experience in higher education informs her coaching in technology, STEM and science. She is a passionate team player who brings a growth mindset attitude to her work.

Tamara Cella

Dr. Tamara Cella is a veteran early childhood educator with 16 years of experience and a passion for social/emotional development and structured literacy. She has developed professional learning for schools across the country, where she maintains a commitment to collecting and analyzing data to ensure all programs are useful and effective for participants and their students.

All of Tamara’s work is done through an SEL lens to make sure children are supported through every step of their educational journey.

Tammye Turpin

Tammye joined Generation Ready in 2016. Her areas of expertise include kindergarten to 12th grade literacy, science, coaching, and leading professional development for teachers and school leaders. She also has experience in conducting school instructional and cultural needs assessments.

Tammye is a nationally recognized science teacher and has served as a leader in school reform efforts at the school, district, and state level since 1995. She managed and directed all federal programs in her district and as a principal moved her school out of failing status in one year.

Thomas Beatini

Tom is a secondary school math consultant. He taught grades seven through twelve, has worked as a staff development consultant, and presents at math conferences around the country.

Tom advocates making effective use of technology and using inquiry-based, hands-on instruction to motivate and encourage students to explore new concepts, make mathematical connections, and take responsibility for their own learning.

Tonya L. White

Tonya L. White has over 35 years in the field of teaching and learning. She has extensive experience inclusive of classroom teacher, literacy coach, director of curriculum and instruction, school principal, and executive director of early childhood education. She has worked in public and charter schools in New York City, as well as regionally and nationally as an early childhood literacy consultant. Tonya is committed to supporting school leaders and instructional staff with the teaching of reading and writing.

Tonya values relationships built with colleagues and enjoys crossing the threshold into schools everyday.

Trish Walter

Patricia has worked in education for over 30 years and has a depth of expertise in teaching and consulting in the elementary mathematics area and coaching and leading professional development.

As a consultant, Patricia works at the school and district-level to guide and build the capacity of educators in developing and vertically aligning standards-based mathematics curricula that supports the needs of all students. Patricia also provides school-based support through demonstrating lessons in classrooms, side-by-side coaching and providing professional development sessions for K-8 teachers.

Bonnie Laboy

Ms. Laboy has more than 27 years experience, spanning the roles of classroom teacher to principal to superintendent. She has extensive experience in instruction, coaching, leadership development, data-driven planning and decision-making, and school-based systems for improvement. Ms. Laboy has designed and implemented professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators on topics ranging from teacher effectiveness to data inquiry cycles to classroom and school-wide improvement strategies.

Kathy Rehfield

Kathy was a math major in college and a math teacher in Cambridge, Mass. She was a Principal of an NYC DOE secondary (grades 6 to 12) school for ten years. She was a Local Instructional Superintendent, a Chief Academic Officer, a Network Leader and a Superintendent in NYC DOE for seventeen years, supporting diverse school administrators and school communities. She has extensive experience in instruction, curriculum, professional development, leadership development, teacher effectiveness and school-wide structures for improvement. She has spent her career supporting high expectations and improved student outcomes.

She genuinely loves schools, students and thinks teachers are everyday heroes!

Laura Feijoo

Dr. Laura Feijoo has served as the Superintendent of Schools for the City School District of New Rochelle. In the NYC Department of Education, she served as the Senior Supervising Superintendent overseeing all superintendents, Alternative Schools, Adult Education, and a series of other undertakings to close the opportunity gap by fostering initiatives to support our most vulnerable students.

Dr. Feijoo has spent her career improving leadership, effective goal setting, and leading teams to support student outcomes.

Michael Ettore

Mike is a career educator with over 30 years of experience as a teacher and leader. Mike is passionate about teaching and the impact teachers have on students. Mike’s area of expertise is elementary and middle school mathematics. As a consultant, Mike strives to provide collaborative support for teachers to strengthen their practices and meet the needs of their students.

Yolanda Carrion

Yolanda Carrion brings 42 years of experience as an educator. Started as an ESL teacher and Supervisor of English in Puerto Rico. Upon returning to the Bronx, taught grades K-6. Founded and directed the first free-standing ESL school in the Bronx. This K-8 experience led to promotion as principal of elementary and middle schools in the Bronx. After 10 years as principal, became Community Superintendent for District 7 in the Bronx.

She has also been named Executive Superintendent of the Office of Family and Community Engagement (FACE), under the leadership of Chancellor Carmen Farina.
